The Khronos Group is happy to return to SIGGRAPH Asia for the 8th time!

Following our successful participation at SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 in Shenzen, the Khronos Group is excited to demonstrate and educate about Khronos APIs at SIGGRAPH Asia 2015 in Kobe. SIGGRAPH Asia Kobe is an ideal opportunity for international standards bodies such as Khronos to effectively outreach to the Asian graphics community and keep the information flowing. We look forward to seeing you there!

Schedule

Neil Trevett, President of Khronos | Tuesday, 03 November | 12:00 - 14:00 (Japan Time Zone GMT+9)

Khronos Graphics, Compute and Vision APIs – including Vulkan Next Generation GPU Acceleration
Discover how over 100 companies cooperate at the Khronos Group to create open, royalty free standards that enable developers to access the power of hardware to accelerate the most demanding tasks in cutting-edge applications – including heterogeneous parallel computation, 3D graphics and vision processing. This session includes the latest updates to API standards including OpenGL, OpenCL, OpenVX, and the recent Vulkan new generation graphics and compute API. The session will explore how modern APIs will accelerate the availability of compelling experiences such as neural-net based driver assistance, virtual and augmented reality, and advanced environmental tracking and 3D reconstruction.

About Neil Trevett
Neil Trevett is Vice President of Mobile Ecosystems at NVIDIA where he works to enable mobile apps to make effective use of advanced silicon acceleration. Neil is also President of the Khronos Group that defines key acceleration APIs for the supercomputing, PC, mobile and embedded industries. At Khronos, Neil initiated the OpenGL ES 3D graphics API that now ships on over one billion phones a year, helped catalyze the development of WebGL that is shipping on all desktop and mobile browsers, and chairs the OpenCL working group for heterogeneous parallel computation.

WHERE IN JAPAN: Kobe is located in Hyogo Prefecture, one of several prefectures in the mid-west of Japan that, together, are known as the ‘Kansai Region’. This is Japan’s premier tourism area for overseas visitors making Kobe an ideal base city for visiting world heritage sites, both to the east and to the west. The Port of Kobe and its man-made islands are located on the north shore of the Osaka Bay.

EASY ACCESS: As a port city, built on a history of transportation, and with its own airport and Shinkansen station(Shin-Kobe), Kobe offers easy access for both domestic and overseas travelers.

CONVENTION VENUES: Closer to the airport than any other convention centers in Japan! Kobe Convention Center (the International Conference Center, International Exhibition Halls and other key venues) are located on Port Island, about 10 minutes from downtown Kobe (Sannomiya) and only 8 minutes from Kobe Airport.

HOTELS & VENUES:

Downtown Hotels: The main hotels for tourists are around the downtown area which is known as Sannomiya. Major rail lines and roads from other cities converge on Sannomiya.

Convention Venues & Hotels: Other key hotels, especially for convention delegates, are in the center of nearby Port Island. These hotels are immediately next door to Kobe’s conference, exhibition and event venues. Also connected to Port Island is the newly opened Kobe Airport Island called “Marine Air”

Conference Code of Conduct: The Khronos Group is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone. Visit our Code of Conduct page to learn more.
